LaShark...

the quality of MP3 is good... most people can't tell the difference between MP3 quality and CD quality.... I have burned some CDs at home from music which was originally in MP3 format... and they sound great.

the beauty of MP3 format is that it's about 10% of the size of a *.wav file, which is what CDs are recorded as... but to tell you the truth, unless you are seriously picky, you can't tell the difference.

if you are interested in MP3s... go to filequest.com....
you need to download their simba downloader which allows you to get their music... and then just download the songs you want... a fast internet connection would be useful, otherwise you are in for some frustrating times... (filequest is a really simple, no frills site, which is fast and efficient, unlike others out there.)

and finally... the issue of finding the songs you want...
MP3.com really does have inferior music selection. they have nothing that you or anyone might want... this is unlike most of the other mp3 sites, which have a much greater variety of songs...

and yes, studios are reluctant to release their songs in mp3 format because it's basically a pirate format... but that doesn't matter, because the way most people make mp3s is to convert wav files into mp3 files... and you can do this with any song on any cd that you have at home.
