Sigma6 Changes Name to AppNet Following Recent Merger
DETROIT, July 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Detroit-based Internet solutions company Sigma6, a division of AppNet, today announced its intention to officially adopt the name AppNet Midwest, Inc. The name change will be effective August 1, according to Sigma6 president Russ Zack.
Sigma6 merged with AppNet Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: APNT), a Bethesda, Maryland-based e-commerce provider, in March of this year. Sigma6 was one of twelve companies to be acquired by AppNet. AppNet is the industry's first single-source e-business solutions provider. In June, the company announced its initial public offering. AppNet also has offices in Ann Arbor, Los Angeles, New York, Boston, Denver, Washington and Amsterdam.
"This is a company-wide initiative to unify and assimilate each company's strengths and expertise into one corporate identity," said John Berry, vice president of AppNet. "Each division within AppNet performs a vital function in the single-source e-business process. Our combined strength is greater than the sum of our parts."
"Independently, Sigma6 is a well-established brand, but we recognize even greater branding potential of officially becoming AppNet in name as well as in practice," added Zack.
To support the branding initiative, AppNet is launching a major advertising campaign to promote the new corporate identity. Branding ads will appear in first-tier print media such as the Wall Street Journal and New York Times. An online advertising campaign will be an integral part of the branding program.
An award-winning, top-ranked interactive agency, Sigma6 complements AppNet's business-to-business and business-to-consumer e-commerce solutions offerings. Once Detroit's largest independent interactive agency, Sigma6 serves clients in the automotive, retail, packaged goods, entertainment and advertising industries.
Sigma6 was recently honored by the Great Lakes Interactive Media Association (GLIMA) for best e-commerce Web site in designing the powerful e- commerce engine behind www.harmonyhouse.com, an online version of the regional music retailer Harmony House. The company will also soon launch an e-commerce Web site for clothing retailer Jacobson's. Sigma6 is also well noted for its work within the automotive industry, having provided interactive solutions to each of the Big Three automotive companies and their suppliers, including the newly redesigned corporate web site for Delphi (www.delphiauto.com).
Sigma6 Interactive Media, Inc. was founded in 1993 as a full-service Internet solutions firm specializing in innovative Web page design and interactive marketing strategies. Sigma6 has offices in Detroit and New York.
