Uncle Frank and Justin:
Didn't take it harshly....I just flushed, started to sweat, almost panicked, took my pills, and conceded that you guys are pretty darn good proofreaders.
DS and others: Don't in any way mean to infer that NTAP is a poor investment, a weak sister about to wither, or any of that. To think this started with my almost casual remark about "rethinking" my position there. Actually, it hasn't turned out to badly. I think many of us have learned more of the company and it's place. FWIT, DS, I think the chart similarity is "category" based, not much else. What I would like to hear is what it will take from NTAP to de-link them from that. You have any ideas on that score?
Confession: One of my character faults as an investor is a tendency to look for the storm cloud while the sun is still shining. Gotta get over that. I can't say how many times a good idea gets rejected for this reason. IOW, it's not always a good idea to listen to me. I do think I'm correct about the near term however, so my powder is mostly drying out just now. Of all those we're watching, RMBS may be the exception, IMO.
When I come back in (late Autumn), my first selections will probably be based on volatility, not fundamentals. By February or March of '00, I'll be going back to fundys. |
