In the recent British open, Jean Van de Velde was leading the field by 3 strokes going into the final hole. The fundamentals were all with him - he couldn't lose unless, of course, if he tried to be a hero by taking dramatically stupid risks. Well, we all know what happened. The commentator gave his opinion of the first two choices that Van de Velde made on the last hole, "dumb and dumber". Your last few posts and actions that you claimed you have made follow a similar pattern. Oracle's fundamentals and the growth of e-commerce on the internet virtually guarantees significant appreciation of ORCL equities in the next few years. To even ask the question whether to short ORCL was dumb, to actually short it was even dumber!

I like the golf story! Creative commentary is good.
However, i have not lost anything shorting Oracle. Broke even over the 2 days---so not such a dumb move. It should move lower soon whether its long term fundamentals are great or not so great. Actually, i am not comfortable with its long term prospects but that is a different story.
I am not following a long term strategy in shorting ORCL among other tech stocks (including internet stocks). I am interested in the short term. It appears that there was short covering in the big techs but the shorting continued in the internet stocks today.
That is not a good sign for the big cap tech stocks, IMHO.
Volume was not great either.
