I agree with both your assessments about Stratfor. The article was incoherent and very repetitive. It read like what one would write after an all night pub crawl of London.....
However, on the serious side, there is something very uncharacteristic about the Chinese government's current handling of this quasi-religious movement. To accord the Falun Dafa (The Great Way of the [Cosmic] Wheel of Law) movement this amount of attention is in effect to bestow upon it a high degree of legitimacy. This, and the uneven handling of the public protests after the bombing of the Chinese Embassy is Belgrade is, IMHO, a sign that all is not well in the ruling hierarchy.
To Ron's point, if there is real danger of the ruling hierarchy crumbling, an attack on Taiwan can not be ruled out, because by then decision making will be in the hands of the irrational few.
