You obviously haven't got the foggiest idea what real astrology is!
Have you ever studied it in great detail? Obviously not! Are you just displaying your ignorance and are merely mouthing your own and the prejudices of your elders/religious teachers? Obviously!
Newton himself was criticised for having studied astrology. His stock reply to his critics was, "Sir, I have studied it. You have not!"
If you would care to do some research you will see that astrology has indeed predicted a number of events. Astrology does not insist that the stars compel but that they incline people to certain behaviours and actions. In other words, astrology indicates the probability of actions and events. And this is consistent with the free will of man-----the privilege of choice.
Regrettably, the popular astrology of today has been much corrupted and, as a consequence, considered bogus by a number of people. Also, in centuries past, the Church had done much to discredit astrology (and also palmistry, not realising that, in the Book of Job, it is said that God put marks in the hands of men so that they may know their works). By the same token, I think the stars serve some purposes, eh?
Nostradamus said he deliberately couched his predictions in nebulous terms to avoid being barbecued. In fact the Inquisitors wanted to burn him, but his patron, the powerful Catherine of Medici, intervened on his behalf.
I am not surprised some of Nostradamus' predictions were not fulfilled. As I mentioned earlier, the stars incline, they do not compel. Also, Nostradamus, being human, might have made some errors here and there, and perhaps some mysterious force(s) might have averted the predicted events. Or, as some folks might say (and this is very hard to prove) the predicted events occurred on some other plane(s) of existence. This is very hard to comprehend unless you have studied mysticism and metaphysics.
I write the above not to try to convince you about the legitimacy of astrology but to show that things can be more complicated than you think.
You are certainly entitled to your own opinion. It does not bother me one bit whatever you think. Who cares? But it seems to bother you that there are folks who are interested in Nostradamus and his predictions.
Are you a bigot?
P.S.A man convinced against his will Is of the same opinion still. |
