Dan,

I never said anything about shorting on a downtick.

If a stock is trading thinly for example at 17 by 17 3/8 & I put in an offer to short 5,000 at 1/8 if the bidder at 17 is "weak" they may drop their bid regardless of the short being filled. But my guess is that if you looked at an intraday chart of mesg on monday & compared it to the DOT (or another internet index), you would see that MESG did not rally as much as the index whenever there was a short-term +move. In other words there may have been a seller/shorter. I hate conspiracy theories so my guess is it was a seller who probably had a 5 cent basis & looked at every other tech stock post earnings & decided to take the $.
