FT, I don't know whether Steven will by more annoyed at my post in opposition or yours in support, LOL!

But let me point out once again that people are more moved by the death of one they have long felt an affection for than by the death of a total stranger. This is not exactly unnatural behavior.

I have wept at the death of a character in a piece of fiction-- one to whom I had been exposed for hours, not decades, and whom I knew not to exist.
