DAK, if a large pharma. sought to apply this theory they might not merge with a biotech
company but rather acquire 51% or more of the stock in a biotech company that was
working in areas that competed with the most important products of the large pharmas.
then it would keep its' hands off the biotech, except to partner with them should the
biotech still need more cash. Doubt any will do it this way. Why not? You don't get
fired or lose face if your major drug company becomes an also ran but if the $200
million you provided an independent biotech is a total loss in three years, that will be
seen as a failure.
