The comments are more conjecture than hard facts.

1) As Open Access cools I suspect the T will increase is acquisition of MSOs and the rate at which they upgrade existing cable to HFC. It appears that rather than following the DLS heard T is quite focused on cable for broadband solutions (Voice, Date, INet). With an economic interest in ATHM and eyes glancing at other content providers, I believe the weakening of Open Access momentum will not only encourage T but other major carries to pursue cable solutions.

2)You are correct the ATHM/Tern link is via Rogers and TCA. From what I have heard ATHM as at least aware of some of the efficiencies that TERN's S-CDMA offers in improving service over older cable line. I can't help but wonder that with ATHM's well-publicized logistical problems that they won't at least mention TERM to other MSO affiliates. Again, I am not counting on much domestic deployment until TERN's universal modem becomes more cost effective or they release a cheap DOCSIS 1.0 modem (some time mid-2000).

3)There are no regulator blocks against deployment of CDMA. It just seems that the major tel-cos and wireless companies are so attached to existing alternative TDMA at the carrier level and a variety of wireless technologies) that CDMA has made greater headway abroad (Europe now moving to 3G, China undertaking a vast deployment effort etc). It a home grown technology that seems to flourish where incumbents don't have archaic legacy systems. Clearly it has gained popularity at home in various guises but there is a greater consensus abroad. TERN's sales will continue to expand most prominently abroad.

4)As the message above suggested, this thread needed some dialogue.
