Oh please, the Summa four switch is NOT the Virtual Switch Controller promised to Sprint and other major telcos. It is not scalable enough, reliable enough, open enough or functional enough to be the answer for a major telco. Cisco is working with HP and Telcordia on a software-based, open hardware, telephony softswitch that is in fact the critical building block for large scale carrier IP telephony networks. AFIK that product is called the Virtual Switch Controller. No matter what name it may go by now, it was supposed to be available now. It is not. LU's wins at Frontier and Level3 with its Softswitch product are extremely significant
