Oh please... you should quit while you're ahead...

no matter how you slice it "programmable switch" or "VSC2700" you are wrong.

VSC2700 for Catalyst 8500

Cisco's VSC2700, industry's first call control solution using simple gateway control protocol (SGCP), is now available on the Catalyst 8500 Series
of multiservice ATM switch routers to support packet telephony traffic and establish voice connections across the data network. The
VSC2700/Catalyst 8500 solution replaces PBX tandem circuit switching by integrating voice and data services onto a single ATM infrastructure
that allows calls to pass directly between various sites over the meshed data infrastructure.

Andreas Fink, Chief Technical Manager of Pingnet, commented on the VSC2700, "This box has the potential to become something which could
outperform any other switch on this planet. I believe the VSC is really on the right track here."

LU's wins:
Frontier, a Cisco power network, chooses LU to help build an IP telephony network by 2002! DO you really think LU will hang on to this one if they plan on delivering in 2002? There isn't even any value on this deal...it's hand waving..posturing...

Level3 (4 year $250M)... a big win?

First to call these two deals major wins is a joke. They are simply posturing by LU to delay the market..the LU product will be available after the VSC2700 which is already in early production. LU's version is targeted for a Q499 GA according to Probe Research. I can guarantee you that it will come out even later if Cisco doesn't pressure LU. By coming out with Frontier and building a 2002 data point it give LU time to build a strategy from old-iron switches to next gen networks. Problem is they are going to get run over. They do not have the incentive to run fast and hard with thier as yet unavaible "softswitch" product. If LU wants to sell vaporware that's their business.....

So, FUN, please oh please stop spinnig LU's story. They're doing fine without your help. BTW: I do believe that there is a softswitch consortium and I suspect that Cisco is involved. ;)

Enough for now...
