Steven, in lieu of engaging (again) in :abel stamping, why don't you engage the specific "canards" I espoused? Idealism is a nice thing, even idealistic "communism" might be (every one contributes to "society" according to his ability and receives from "society" according to its needs), but once faced with realism and human nature all idealistic theories fail.

Within a system how does a libertarian (small l) drives the current system to be closer to what such a small l libertarian espouses to, namely, the idealistic notion of "freedom of actions and thoughts"?

Even Greenspan, the great (former) Libertarian (big L) admitted today that it would be nice to have the freedom of increasing debt if economic conditions suddenly and unexpectedly required it. If you attempt to eradicate the current taxation system and replace it with a value added or a national sales tax (assuming that the government needs or is entitled to any revenues), you will end up with both an income tax (including "employment taxes") and a national sales tax.
