RE: "NASA's New Millennium Deep Space 1 Mission to image the features of an asteroid and is also planned for Mars Landing in 2001."

These programs are likely to be cancelled due to the recent massive budget cut in NASA last week. Note the comments yesterday from Golden (NASA head).
