Sigma Designs' REALmagic Hollywood Plus DVD Decoder Specified in $300 Million
U.S. Army PC-3 Contract; PC Systems to Meet Worldwide Army Requirements

Business Editors/Technology Writers

MILPITAS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 28, 1999--Sigma Designs,
Inc. (Nasdaq: SIGM), a recognized leader in digital video solutions
for personal computers, announced today that its award-winning
REALmagic Hollywood Plus DVD decoder is specified in the
recently-awarded three-year, $300 million, dual award U.S. Army
Personal Computer-3 (PC-3) contract.
The U.S. Army CECOM (Communications and Electronics Command)
awarded the contract to Government Technology Services, Inc. (Nasdaq:
GTSI) and Intellisys Technology Corporation (ITC).
Under the contract, GTSI will provide Hewlett-Packard desktop
computers, which may be purchased or leased, as well as a broad range
of peripherals and software. ITC will provide desktop personal
computer systems from Compaq Computer Corporation (Nasdaq: CPQ) to
meet Army requirements in the 50 states, the District of Columbia,
U.S. Territories and Commonwealths, and Overseas U.S. Government
installations. The contract is also available to all Federal agencies
(Department of Defense and civilian agencies). Hollywood Plus is
available for every PC shipping with a DVD drive.
The DVD Video Group has stated that DVD sales were up 300% in the
first half of 1999. The burgeoning demand for DVD hardware is
reflected in the DVD Forum's projection that sales of DVD-ROM/RAM
drives alone will reach $16 billion by 2001.
"This award is a validation of CECOM's commitment to provide the
Army with the best technology to perform its mission," said Scott
Reynolds, ITC Executive Vice President. "We are pleased to partner
with Sigma Designs, as its DVD technology represents the high level of
quality, integrity, and innovation that we intend to provide our
clients."
"Both GTSI and ITC specified hardware DVD decoding from Sigma
Designs in their winning proposals--there is no current comparable
product available today that can match the features and price of
Sigma's REALmagic DVD implementation on PCs," stated William K. Wong,
Sigma's vice president of marketing.
"For this reason, the winning contractors felt that Army units
and other Federal agencies require hardware DVD technology to perform
their respective missions. We have established strong marketing
programs with GTSI and ITC to promote the REALmagic Hollywood Plus
hardware solution to their customers. We are honored to work with GTSI
and ITC on this three-year contract. The fact that both firms selected
our DVD decoder chip confirms our belief that hardware DVD solutions
meet customer requirements for seamless DVD playback in a
multitasking, interactive environment," Mr. Wong concluded.
