regarding possible spin-off. i think everyone on this thread assumes they will recieve shares of the the possible spin-off. let me pose the alternative-- i have been involved with companies which have a spin-off of, say 20% of a fast growing division... guess what? the current shareholders didn't get a single share, nor did they get the opportunity to participate in the ipo! kinda sucks, huh? what the shareholders recieved was the cash raised by the ipo, and the market somewhat realizes the company's value of the 80% shares the retained. sometimes this is the only way you can spin off such a small %. it's the only way the underwriters will handle the deal. greg
