Waterlink Reports Break Even Performance
Before Charges Substantial Bookings and Backlog
Improvement

CANTON, Ohio--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 27, 1999--Waterlink Inc. (NYSE:WLK - news) announced today that
results for the third quarter ended June 30, 1999 produced a break even result before charges which is in line with the
earnings pre-announcement made in late June. After $4.5 million of charges related to the finalization of the 1999
Strategic Operating Plan, the Company reported a loss of $.36 per share for the quarter. The Company also reported
that total backlog levels increased during the quarter to $46.0 million at June 30, 1999, primarily as a result of increased
booking activity at its European Division near the end of the quarter.
