As an analyst in the industry I find this thread rather interesting. My collegue covers UAVs, many of which are used in reconnaissance operations. The US was not the only country to lose UAVs in Kosovo, so did the French and Germans. However, a lot of equipment issues eventually come down to bandwidth and money. The French, Germany, UK and US soldiers of the future are all tied into wireless networks. In many cases there is only enough funding for a corps.
