I was told that for everyone who owns QNTM now, the tax basis for the new tracking stocks will be determined by the ratio of the opening prices on the first day that HDD & DSS go live (8/4).

Since you'll only get a half share of HDD, I'm not sure about the exact formula. I presume we'll be formally told by QNTM and/or our brokers.
