Matt, do you ever think about what is going to be the "hot" item or idea of the near future? As a baby boomer, I am a member of the generation that is coming into its own or is already there, and I always think that what I really need to do is figure out what is going to be the next hot thing for "us," and buy stock in the company that makes or develops it now. E.g., Home Depot 10 years ago. I have a notion that resort and recreation will get a huge lift in the future from my generation, but not sure those stocks (whatever they are) are sexy enough--after all, people have to want to jump on the bandwagon.
Frankly, this kind of the thinking is more up my alley than TA or even fundamental analysis. The way the market is these days, the fundamentals don't seem to matter (eg my MSPG) and you can get 82 different TAs of the same set of graphs, and they can all be wrong.
I'd love to get Club Fatt brainstorming re "hot" sectors of the future. Are you interested? Any thoughts? Regards, Lynn
PS Wasn't that something with SNMM? It makes me want to get out of all non listed stocks. Too many stupid things happen. I am quite happy with good old Texas Instruments, which I bought a couple of weeks ago at 149 the day before it announced a split, it tanked with everything else, I averaged down at 136 and now it's at about 148. |
