On my way home tonight I heard a piece on NPR re: E-Loan, who also had a recent IPO.

The gist of the piece was the activity that took place before the 1st day of public trading. The narrator highlighted the road show that took place weeks before that day; you know, the founders of the company doing dog and pony shows in front of fund managers, analysts, institutional deep pockets, et.al.

Evidently, their stock did very well the first couple of days out ( don't know where it is now or anything else about the company ), and In light of INIT's performance since its debut,I'm just wondering how important a role this is vis a vis fundamentals,i.e. can it really be style triumphing over substance? to this degree? Of course, I have no idea how the INIT guys did if they had a road show. But in light of the report I just heard, it got me to wondering.

Thoughts? Insights, anyone?
