Omnipoint Technologies And HiddenMind Technology Form Alliance

July 27, 1999 - RALEIGH N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)

Companies to Develop Wireless Applications for GSM-Based Networks

RHiddenMind Technology, a North Carolina software development firm offering a breakthrough software framework for digital wireless data applications, and Omnipoint Technologies, Inc., (NASDAQ:OMPT) a leading developer of advanced wireless technologies, today announced a market development alliance. The two companies will collaborate on the development of wireless applications for GSM-based networks. The products will focus on improving the use of dispersed business resources and advancing communications capabilities for telecommuters and members of the mobile work force.

The collaborative applications being developed are based on HiddenMind's new software framework, HiddenLogic(TM), and Omnipoint's GSM-module products. The HiddenLogic software will enable smooth, quick and easy coordination among mobile workforces and dispersed business resources without the need for expensive - and in many cases impractical -- fixed phone lines and related infrastructure. The applications will include wireless unified messaging; intelligent, distributed workflow for the mobile workforce; and telemetry applications for monitoring devices.

For example, the two companies are now working together to provide a major telecommunications manufacturer with an integrated workflow solution. The solution utilizes fixed and mobile two-way wireless devices and messaging software to streamline the capture and distribution of relevant information among various types of information appliances and users. HiddenMind and Omnipoint expect that their alliance will lead to their development and marketing of similar applications for businesses that have mobile workforces, and use remote equipment and other distributed assets, such as: utilities, fleet management, irrigation, pipeline and building automation companies.

"HiddenMind Technology's software framework enhances the use of Omnipoint's GSM products. It's a link that enables the wireless applications our customers have been demanding," said Mark Vonarx, Senior Director of Marketing, Omnipoint Technologies. "It's clear that wireless messaging has come of age. And, it's companies like Omnipoint and HiddenMind that will lead the market to greater use of wireless technologies."

HiddenLogic was built specifically to support the new Wireless Application Protocol (WAP), which is an open, global specification that empowers mobile users with wireless devices to easily access and instantly interact with other wireless information and services. With the support of more than 100 members of the industry association known as the WAP Forum, WAP is quickly becoming the de-facto world standard for Internet communications, wireless information and telephony services on digital mobile phones and other wireless terminals.

"Our alliance with Omnipoint Technologies dovetails nicely with our ongoing relationships with other companies such as digital wireless carrier, BellSouth Mobility DCS, and customers, such as Nortel Networks. This new relationship provides us and our partners with a unique opportunity to quickly bring to market wireless data applications that will improve the use of company information and upgrade the coordination of communications among employees, no matter where they are located," said Ken Tyra, CEO of HiddenMind Technology, Inc. "The complexity of the software underlying these applications is hidden from the user, who will be pleasantly surprised at how easy and inexpensive they are to use."

HIDDENLOGIC TECHNOLOGY

At its most basic level, HiddenLogic is a Java-based software foundation modeled on the human stimulus/response system. The technology facilitates the development of software applications that function in all operating systems and incorporate a number of unique, proprietary features, including "fire and forget" methodology, intelligent "stimulus/response" communication, narrow bandwidth interoperability and administration-less deployment.
