CHICAGO, July 28 /PRNewswire/ -- In the midst of an extreme heat wave, ComEd met its customers' electricity demands today of 20,212 megawatts (MW). Today's peak demand broke last Thursday's record of 19,910 MW.

ComEd broke a string of peak-demand records last week and will probably continue the trend on Thursday and Friday. The 19,910 MW record set last Thursday beat the July 21 all-time high of 19,708 MW. Both of those peaks surpassed the Aug. 14, 1995 record of 19,212 MW.
