Sonny, most of us longs are betting where AOL will be by the end of this year. I'm betting we'll be up, and significantly so.

A while ago I had a discussion with Vendit about the benefits of cable, ADSL, satellite and microwave as a means of high speed internet access. I am still not clear which is better, faster or cheaper. Technology and competition will make these choices clearer in the coming months. However, it is clear that despite the fact that AOL may temporarily have its headaches with T/ATHM, AOL has many viable alternatives for high speed internet access, some of which, indeed, may be better than cable.

I presently use cable modem for high speed internet access and am particularly pleased that I rarely get bumped. In fact, the primary reason I use cable modem is to allow me to remain on line all day without tying up a phone line. However, I have my eye on ADSL and microwave as alternatives, should the advantages of those methods become more appealing.
