In short it's the sheer volume that makes these stocks liqiud
as hell, this is the GANG where they park or withdraw the
most money, and the parking lot was busy today.

would you not conclude that this might be dollars fleeing to "more secure" stocks, because they are more liquid; and thus easier to get out of, in a panic scenario.

I see this as setting the stage for Y2K exit performance.

Cap'n I was wondering if you ever look at a "stable" small cap index in similar light as your dollar volume index on the big name stocks. The reason I mention this is that, I was thinking this less active representative might be more sensitive to money flow and might portend major moves. (ie purposefully choose small caps with low variability in the volume and fairly expectable returns. Is there such a group of stocks?) Just thinking out loud.
