Jack--

Yes, but the international investment community has stumbled before on these great Italian deals. Last year foreign institutions finally got fed up and tried to force change on--who was it? not Montedison? but who? I can't remember--but alas it didn't work. In the end who won? Enrico Cuccia.

STET will of course be offered in New York as an ADR, which means that the Italian financial mafia can't engage in its usual tricks, but there are no guarantees that the company will be run as it should be run, or that we'll know whether it is or not.
