CobaltBlue -- I was aspiring to more than "semi-OK"; this being America and all.

I meant to horrify you but not have part two of my "remedy" taken seriously. Part one needs fine-tuned, I'm sure, but it presents real issues for debate. I don't mean this as an attack on you personally, but most discussions about "social problems" aren't worth the breath it takes to repeat them.

Regardless of what issues of race, poverty and culture attend circumstances in our inner cities -- the bottom line is that we are witnessing the creation of a new class. Not a free lunch class, not an uneducated class but a barbarian class. There are not enough billions of dollars or enough helping people to stem this tide.

Sure, you can find enough anecdotal material to go page one in the Post every day with some inspiring or heart-warming piece. But, don't fool yourself, this is a bad, bad situation and no one (outside of the idiot extremist fringe) dares talk about possible solutions.

I don't have solutions either, but it's about time people started saying something besides "more $$$ for social programs" or "be responsible for yourself."

Unrelated -- I looked in here a couple of years ago. Did you and/or any other female regulars post under other "names" at the time. No biggie -- just curious.

Ringknocker -- What class was J. Swift in? :-)
