In his eulogy for his nephew, John F. Kennedy, Jr., Senator Ted Kennedy said that John "was the king of his domain."
John was an adventurous man who flew his own plane, drove his own car, rode the subway . He enjoyed para-gliding, and John was a certified scuba diver.
A passage from a poem by Mary Oliver came to mind when I thought about John's life.
"When it's over, I want to say: all my life I was a bride married to amazement. I was the bridegroom, taking the world into my arms.
When it's over, I don't want to wonder if I have made of my life something particular, and real. I don't want to find myself sighing and frightened, or full of argument.
I don't want to end up simply having visited this world."
From When Death Comes by Mary Oliver
John F. Kennedy, Jr., did his own thing! He was more than a visitor. And I admire him for that!
