Ian, the WSJ article neglects to mention that the internet service providers pay the $400 towards the "free" PC - in return for the customer's 3 year commitment to subscribe to the ISP. At least that's the impression I got when I bought one at Micro Center. An instant $400 was deducted from the price and I had to sign up for MSN then and there. Seems to me the hardware suppliers don't pay for this. Gottfried
