Weekly Jobless Claims = -40k to 275k

In the week ending July 24, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 275,000, a decrease of 40,000 from the previous week's revised figure of 315,000. The 4-week moving average was 300,000, a decrease of 6,500 from the previous week's revised average of 306,500.

Real GDP: Based on source data available at this time, BEA estimates that real GDP increased 2.3 percent (annual rate) in the second quarter of 1999 after increasing 4.3 percent in the first.
