<I suggest you go run some benchmarks on a P55C-233 vs. a PII-233.>

You mean like these?

tomshardware.com

Business Winstone 98 (Win95):
Pentium MMX 233: 17.0
Pentium II 233: 19.7 (15.9% improvement)

Quake II demo1.dm2:
Pentium MMX 233: 45.0
Pentium II 233: 58.8 (30.7% improvement)

Quake II massive1.dm2:
Pentium MMX 233: 31.8
Pentium II 233: 41.6 (30.8% improvement)

Pretty good going from one generation to the next, don't you think?
Chances are, Athlon won't demonstrate these sorts of improvements over
the Pentium III. No wonder Linley Gwennap of MDR is questioning
AMD's claim of "seventh-generation technology."
