it is perfectly relevant. you said a shortage of wafers due to rdram would help the dram makers. i said it would help the wafer mfrs and raise the dram mfrs costs at a time when customers will not pay more for dram AND grow sales.

therefore, it might hurt micron instead of help them.

i agree that neither of us know exactly how this would play out. i see you've reached that conclusion now. it could easily hurt mu,hurt intel, hurt amd, hurt dell, hurt cpq and all the other box makers and all the other peripheral mfrs.

but, rdram isn't catching on - at least no time soon. so, with memory output doubling every 10 months or so and mu (15% of dram output) ready and able to supply 70% of the computers built this year, that rdram bet bet doesn't appear wise. especially at current levels.

wandering? keeping up with you isn't easy ;-)
