"AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome) is made up of approximately 26 different diseases such as PCP, tuberculosis, waisting, etc., already in exsistance long before the discovery of HIV. Upon the discovery of HIV, many of these illness' were classified as part of AIDS, in the US, Africa and abroad." To clarify, as somone who has aquintainces with HIV, HIV destroys the immune system, the body's ARMY against disease. really, thats all it does. once your immune system is unable to fight anything, you are susceptable to catching many diseases and diseases that we fight off everyday that we are unaware of. In theory, you can live with AIDS forever so long as you are in a germ free environment...does anyone remember the movie the "boy in the plastic bubble" with john travolta?? a germ free environment of course is not realistic.
