Casaubon, i only started acquiring a theoretical background after my first trade..i remember i bought BMW as a 6-week long metal workers strike was ending in Germany, on the theory that the stock had sold off because of it and would rise thereafter, which luckily turned out to be quite a good bet. imagine, i didn't even know about brokers! i boarded a train to Munich with the cash in my pocket, went to the Munich Stock Exchange and tried to buy the shares right there. They had a good laugh and sent me to a broker to open an account. amazingly, in spite of my naivete i managed to make a little fortune in my first year of trading from very modest beginnings. most of my early trades were 'common sense' type of trades like the purchase of BMW. right after i had placed my first trade i bought a book on TA by a German commodities trader, Rainer von Arnim, which i still have at home and treasure to this day. it was written when TA was a lot less sophisticated than it is today and dealt mostly with chart patterns and other pretty basic stuff. i had a great time discovering i was talented for this business.
it certainly never occurred to me to kill anyone though.

regards & good night,

hb
