Thank-you, Thank-you very much...
May I have the microphone please...
I wasn't sure I'd be able to make it to the awards ceremony tonight. I've been busy touting Net2Phone over on that thread #Subject-29157. I'm holding NTOP for bigger and greater things tomorrow #reply-10719135 but hey, maybe tomorrow I'll get my upcomings, make a lot of Yahooeys happy and all that.
I'd like to thank Messagemedia for busting ass and delivering revenues closest to my number. Please be advised that next quarter, I'm moving my number higher so you can all stop reading this and get back to work. Chop, Chop! That goes for you too Buster.
I'd like to thank the Guessing Committee for bestowing upon me the title of Venerable Dan Meckenstock although I fully realize that if I ever see it in print, I'll have to type it myself.
Which reminds me, I want to thank the good Lord for giving me two good hands and ten nimble fingers so I can type to my heart's content. And last but not least, I want to thank my 9th grade typing teacher, bless her heart may she rest in peace, for teaching me the difference between "aaa" and ";;;".
Anyway, I like the numbers. I was hoping for $1.5 million or better but we got $1.3 million and better. Still, 73% increase in revenues from Q1 to Q2 is pretty good -- lest we forget Messagemedia took a month off to move to Boulder. Considering, Dell is struggling to sustain 40% revenue growth, I'm satisfied with 73% increase over Q1.
To put it another way, let's hear it for the Yahoo! who made 73% on their equity last quarter... (pause) I don't hearing anything. As I said, those are pretty good numbers.
Considering the two definitive agreements are now signed, the mechanisms are now in place that will help guarantee that high rate of growth through the rest of the year. Bet no self-serving Yahoo! thought of that.
The 459% increase over year ago numbers will catch some eyes. Hopefully, folks will look past that number, since it doesn't mean much. Recall, I mentioned 589% increase when I mentioned my 1.5 guestimate #reply-10417256. It didn't mean much there either.
Haven't listened to the conference call yet. Some Yahoo!s were turned off by it, but the reality is, it's impossible to sustain an uptick 24-7 and until they learn that, they're beyond help.
An analyst or two would be nice, and I don't mean that skinny kid Harmon, to help us interpret the P&L and all that. But at this stage, other things are more important. Like, how Messagemedia will define itself.
An analyst gets hung up on margins and all those little things only they can understand but can't explain. That's not as important now, cuz 20% plus or minus on revenue growth is still pretty good numbers.
What we have is a company that is coming together as it grows. There isn't anything out there to model it on cuz frankly, Messagemedia is the model. We won't know it until we see it and it hasn't been built yet so we don't know it. That sort of thing if you know what I mean.
Net2Phone, IP telephony, 10 cents per minute, are concepts investors (and yes, proud Yahoos! and shameless Yahoos! alike) can relate to since Ma Bell has been around since before we were born. However, an email channel and everything that goes into it is still a mystery to most and probably somewhat a mystery to folks at Messagemedia. This lack of definition and/or understanding has kept many investors, yes even internet investors (no I don't mean Yahoos!, the keyword here is investor), from realizing the potential of Messagemedia.
What I'm saying is that at this point in time, I'm more interested in Messagemedia's vision and how they intend to implement that vision than I am in having an analyst running around blowing smoke and trying to impress me about how smart they are.
Here's an example. Which is more important? ciscomessage.com or messagemedia.co.uk . You see, we don't even know which is more important to the health of Messagemedia. Message has it, (for Yahoo!s still in the 20th century, substitute "Word" for "Message" and you'll be ready to enter the 21st Century) there was a question about Cisco in the conference call, but nothing was asked about global expansion plans. Point being, none of us know how to measure Messagemedia.
What's that... my time is up?
OK folks, I'll spare you until another time. I'm off to walk my dog, brush my teeth, say my prayers, go to bed so I can shit, shower and share first thing tomorrow morning.
Thank-you! |
