If people in Seagate did not have idea about what the removable storage technology should be, all they could do now is to imitate the Zip drive. Maybe they can come up with something as an improvement of Zip Drive. But it will be too late. We have seen enough of this kind of story. Taking MS Window for an example, everybody knows that it is a piece of lousy software. But later similar developments have never been able to replace it. I can see that once software is packaged in the Zip disk, all other people can do is to license the technology from Iomega and produce Zip drive and disks. As a mature product and with such a degree consumer penetration, any news about trying to find an alternative won't sell any more.
