KANAKARIS AND NASA TEAM TO BRING CYBERSPACE TO OUTER SPACE; NEW DESIGN FOR INTEGRATED COMMAND CENTER AND NO PLUG-IN WEBCAST ANNOUNCED BY Internet's World Downloadable Leader

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., Jul 29, 1999 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Kanakaris Communications, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: KKRS), has been asked by NASA to design a new room to replace and combine the Nascom Operations Management Center and the IP NOC (Internet Protocol Network Operations Control) room into one facility. The design work draws upon Kanakaris' contract relationship with NASA which has resulted in a OPCON Computer Command installation which is at the center of the Goddard Space Flight Center. Kanakaris Vice-Chairman Branch Lotspeich will oversee the design from the Kanakaris/Desience headquarters in Costa Mesa, CA.

-- Kanakaris/Desience has already designed and built rooms at Goddard Space Flight Center's Nascom Operations Management Center.

-- The new Kanakaris design directly involved the use and integration of the Internet in one of NASA's most mission-critical communications centers.

-- The Nascom (NASA Communications) Operations Management Center, located at the Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland, is the focal point for NASA's world wide communications network consisting of voice, data, and television. The facility is operated 24 hours-per-day, 7 days-per-week.

-- The 8 Kanakaris/Desience console positions in the room consist ofthe Shift Communications Manager and Shift Technical Coordinator. They are responsible for the day-to-day operations of the facility and for support of the 20+ spacecraft NASA supports daily.

-- The Mission Operations Integration Specialist position handles all communications with the Space Shuttle; a second position handles all communications for other launch vehicles, (e.g.; Delta, Titan, Arieane, etc.), and this position will eventually handle communications for the Space Station. The Kanakaris/Desience Opcon Module Console is already configured for Space Station support. The Conversion Device Manager's position is responsible for the systems used to interface the older Legacy Network with the new IP (Internet Protocol) Network. Special conversion devices were built to allow transfer of data between the Nascom 4800 bit block format to the IP format, the Conversion Device Manager monitors, configures, and trouble shoots these devices, world wide, from his position.

-- The Communications Director's Kanakaris/Desience Opcon Module console is know as "Ulcer City" and, this position is staffed during flights andis responsible for everything in the network. The Communications Director answers to the Network Director and the Flight Director. This position makes life and death decisions during manned missions and is the interface withthe News media during flights. The Division Chief's console is used for Upper Level Management and VIP's during flights. The final console is used by the Emergency Preparedness Officers during emergencies at the Center and is also the radio console for broadcasting in participation with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Emergency broadcast network.

-- The IP NOC (Internet Protocol Network Operations Control), located at the Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland, is the management control center for NASA's new IP Network. From the four positions in this facility, the network is controlled, configured, monitored, fault isolated, and fixed. This facility is operational 24 hours-per-day, 7 days-per-week. The network is monitored constantly for performance and equipment problems. Kanakaris/Desience is excited about its involvement with this center.

In addition to the above working relationship, Kanakaris is excited tobe adding a live 24/7 feed with no plug-in required from NASA to its upcoming KKRS.Net integrated web channel offering direct-over-the-Internet movies, music and books.
