Hot Stock Picks From Rick Schottenfeld
by Brendan Hasenstab
Producer, CNBC.com "Alliance Semiconductor...(has) a huge investment portfolio worth significantly more than where the stock is trading now."

-- Rick Schottenfeld, General Partner at Schottenfeld Associates

We spent a few minutes with hedge fund manager Rick Schottenfeld during a break on Squawk Box this morning. Here are his top two, piping-hot stock picks, along with charts and other info from CNBC.com.
By the way, Schottenfeld holds positions in both of the following stocks.

TOP PICK: Alliance Semiconductor {ALSC}: "This is an SRAM company. They have a huge investment portfolio worth significantly more than where the stock is trading right now. They owned some semiconductor (factories) that were joint ventures with a big Taiwanese semiconductor company that UMC has agreed to acquire on a share-for-share basis. It trade in Taiwan and, if you value the shares in that, it's worth about $600 million -- almost $4 a share. In addition they own BroadCom {BRCM} stock worth about a buck and they own 2.5 percent of Charter Semiconductor which is the large national semiconductor company in Singapore -- the second largest in the world. That stock trades with a $30 billion market cap (in Singapore.) If you haircut that significantly to $10 billion Alliance's stake still adds $6, so in the other assets this company has $21 in assets at $9 a share."
