WAP and pdQ: Sun Microsystems Inc., Hitachi Corp. and WirelessKnowledge - a joint venture between Microsoft Corp. and Qualcomm Inc., quickly switched to WAP, as well.

Who knows if the reportage is accurate in terms of causality. It's difficult to imagine that Q was taken completely off guard by this. Given that the announcement of WK's joining WAP appeared approximately three or more months ago, it may be assumed that pdQ will be able to migrate to a WAP OS fairly quickly, if not already underway. It's a bump in users' expectations of the pdQ, but given Q's capital and other commitments to WK and awareness of WAP protocols, perhaps best in the long run. JMHO.

Regards. Steven
