Frankincense and myrrh?

<<<People easily forget that "trading" is nothing new and is not a function of the modern age. Think back in history folks. Frankincense and myrrh anyone.>>>

Ancient traders of frankincense and myrrh were *very* different from today's daytraders. Typically, they either dragged the spices from Arabia themselves, financed the expeditions, or arranged the sale to the end party. Without them, frankincense and myrrh would not have been available in the markets.

Daytraders do not make stock more available, unless you consider "adding liquidity" to make it more available. The companies, exchanges, and brokerages have done all the work in making the stock available to the general public, and daytraders don't contribute.

Nothing against daytrading. I happen to like it. But to consider it as anything more than a selfish pursuit seems a stretch to me.
