I don't know how old you were when Reagan was in office, but there were the famous "Reagan Democrats" who bolted from the Democratic party and supported much of Reagan's supply side economics tax cut program. But they couldn't shake their old ways and were unable to actually cut the spending. They half-heartedly cut the spending rate, which , of course, isn't the same thing.

As for Alan Greenspan, he lost credibility when he accepted a post that he had eloquently proven should not exist in a paper he wrote which appeared in Ayn Rand's Objectivist newsletter back in the early 1960s. Greenspan has lost his ideals to the siren call of power in Wonderland (Washington, D.C.). About all he's retained is his acute fear of inflation.

The bottom line is this: taxation of income should be eliminated and the Democrats and Republicans are just political versions of Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum. For the most part, both are heading in the same direction at different speeds. The Democrats seem to want to reach the cliff first...
