Pat -- your complete knowledge of baseball is more complete than you suggest. From a defensive view, you could add: don't walk the batter.

The above is the fundamental perspective. Unfortunately, most BB fans are chartists at heart who rely on endless stats which they constantly mine for meaningful bits.
