And on the sixth day, the Lord turned to the Archangel Gabriel and said to him, "Today, I'm going to create a land called 'Canada'. It will be a land of outstanding natural beauty, with tall majestic mountains full of mountain goats and eagles, beautifully sparkly lakes bountiful with carp and trout, forests full of elk and moose, high cliffs overlooking sandy beaches and with an abundance of sea life in the oceans off the coasts, and powerful rivers stocked with salmon."
And the Lord continued, "I shall also make the land rich in oil and gas, and in gold, silver, copper and other ores so to make the inhabitants prosper. I shall name these inhabitants 'Canadians', and they shall be forever known as the friendliest people on the face of the Earth."
"But Lord," asked Gabriel, "don't you think you're being too generous to these 'Canadians'?"
"Not really," replied the Lord, "just wait and see the neighbors I'm going to give them." |
