There are a few that could be considered as competition but certainly only minor players and the names just don't come to mind at the moment. What is interesting though is that a company can build one laser but it needs separate FDA approval for each particular application one wants to sell it for - in other words if a model 727 is found to be useable for removing warts as well as freckles it must have a separate approval for each. Coherent is now in it's 30th year of producing lasers for industrial, laboratory, scientific, surgical - you name it - and they certainly hold most of the patents.
