One thing to remember about any buyout is that Phil owns some 40% of Qwest. So he effectively controls any buyout attempt and will set the price.

Personally I don't see any buyout anytime soon. Why would anyone want to buy Qwest now? They have a lot of work to do integrating USW, and that deal isn't set to close for another 3 quarters. I would think anyone thinking of buying Qwest would wait until Qwest does the hard work and proves it will be successful. Better to buy a sure thing than a pot of problems.
