Bruce,
Where can I see the info on customers that have signed up for the LightBridge ChurnProphet product? I can find no major announcements associated with this product in particular. The only news I could locate was concerning the trial they conducted with AT&T in Florida. What I would really like to see is any summary data on results from that trial. Any info? As far as uniqueness, Lightbridge was third to market with this product. Competing products from GTE(ChurnManager)and Coral Systems (ChurnAlert) were made commercially available during the Lightbridge trial period in that order. GTE conducted their trial in Florida while the Coral Systems trial was performed in Arizona last year. Both companies claimed that the trials were successful but only GTE has released any definitive data on results. I too believe that customer churn is a great problem within the wireless industry, but carriers have initially balked at the high cost of these systems. For a nationwide carrier, the cost can run into the 5 to 10 million dollar range depending on how the product is deployed. You can be sure that a carrier will want to recoup that cost quickly by making a significant improvement in their churn rate. The issue is that no vendor of these products can guarantee a rate of return on the investment due to the uncontrollable forces that can cause churn within a particular market (i.e. local layoffs, unpaid bills, and subscriber fraud). Has anyone done a financial analysis on the cost of churn to a carrier? I would be very interested in any info contributed. Happy investing!
