I have visited so many institutions trying to service the poor elderly, have read numerous publications(which I always read with a grain of salt) and lived a much longer life than you so have experienced,first hand, what has been going on. Those people under 65 who are not able to afford private medical insurance are able to get medicaid which gives them similar benefits as the elderly. Your final paragraph says that you favor taking care of the elderly yourself. Well, all your money will be welcome. TD
