It is absolutely mind boggling but I can think of no alternative than a sytematic salting of the core. I can't imagine how this could be done for so long and with so many respected and knowledgable people visiting the property over the years. But there you go.

I know the lab is OK. Freeport also use this lab extensively and I wouldn't be surprised if they used it to obtain the 'negative' results they have just announced.

I am not saying that cyanide leach is inappropriate for Busang. I am saying that it won't report MORE gold than fire assay (especially screen fire assay). Assays by CN leach should, on average, give lower values than fire assay therefore CN leach is a more conservative method of assay. The problems are not in the lab or the method of assay.

The WAM assays were all done by fire assay with some screen fire assay checks.

I would like to know if there were any holes drilled specifically for metallugical testing??? This is the normal practice on new deposits to make sure that fresh, unoxidized material is used in the test (samples oxidize very quickly in the tropics). I have heard that only lab rejects (excess sample that the lab did not need for its primary and check assays) were used for metallurgy. If these samples were salted then the 'salt' would still be present in the reject and the metallurical results would be erroneous.

A big tragedy is that a lot of bonafide junior explorers in Indonesia and elsewhere are going to be damaged by this. I am sure that they, unlike Bre-X, will welcome any check work at this stage to prove their honesty.

There are many other things I would like to say but it's lunch time. First things first.
