Wireless Phone Networks Launch Data Services July 30, 1999 Business News Archives Vodafone AirTouch Plc and GTE Corp began rollouts of wireless data services that will bring low-priced wireless Internet access to much of the U.S. by early next year without wireless modems. The services work with digital telephones and a cable and don't require a special modem like existing wireless services, including Ricochet.
