Fightin' Words for Kumar! Enjoy!

> Kumar: I think what happened with AMD is that you could put
them on the same page as Compaq (quote, chart, profile). They
consistently set high expectations and never, ever, execute it
to plan.
Intel has an 85% market share. AMD claims that they have a
30% market share. Unless they went to a different math school
than you and me that doesn't quite add up.
There's a fine line between having visions and hallucinating, and
I think AMD falls into the latter camp. Today they have a cost
structure in place that inhibits them from doing anything better
than breaking even, even if they wrap up the K7 (its newest
processor).
Also, they've had a fair amount of management turmoil. It's
highly questionable that the company's going to be successful
in its K7 launch.
Unfortunately, from a consumer perspective you'd like AMD to
survive and be successful, otherwise it essentially gives Intel a
license to print money. But, I wouldn't hold my breath for them
to be successful.
